ISCU Reunion

Today, we attended Evanston Hospital's Infant Special Care Unit reunion party. (We forgot the camera, so no pics -- sorry!) You most likely recall that Sophie and Evie spent 10 long weeks in the ISCU before we were finally able to take them home, so we got to know the place pretty darn well.

This was our second time attending the party, celebrating with other parents and kids and catching up with some of the talented staff who cared for our little ones in that excellent facility. We were especially excited to see Hilde, the twins' ISCU physical therapist. She was an excellent resource and kind shoulder during our ISCU stay.

What's most interesting (to me) about attending this reunion party is that our twins blend right in. At least half the families there have multiples -- if you want to turn heads, your stroller needs to be at least a triple. It is both odd and refreshing to just blend in with the crowd.

This is so important to the staff. To see successes makes it so much earier to go back to work. All the medical staff need to see patients after they are well. This gives you purpose and hope you are making a difference.

Forgot the camera? What kind of mother are you?! Well, I'm glad the reunion went well and you got to see some of the staff who'd worked with you. I bet it was nice for them to see you--and, especially, the girls--too!
