Yellowstone 2009

Here are some images from our Yellowstone vacation. Airan and Dad got much better pictures with their big, fancy cameras and actual photography skill, but I got one or two cute shots.

On the morning of our second day of driving, we stopped by Mt. Rushmore for a quick look.

People always say it's smaller than they expect it to be, but I thought it was plenty big.

Silly pose by Firehole River

It's too bright to smile for the camera!

At our first geothermal site, a very stinky spot.

Those fumaroles are loud!

Buffalo from a distance. I don't have a telephoto lens, and I take seriously the warnings to stay 300 feet away from these fellas. I don't want to be gored.

This formation at Mammoth Hot Springs doesn't look like it could have formed naturally -- it's very strange.

Taking a breather while hiking at Mammoth Hot Springs.

Rainbow at Lower Yellowstone Falls.

There's a lookout point to see the lookout point at the Lower Falls.

At yet another lookout point looking back at those other two Lower Falls lookout points.

"Marshing" hot dogs.

We got caught in some rain at the Norris Geyser Basin.

I swear there's a bear in that picture.

That's me sighting the bear with Airan's camera.

Buffalo traffic jam. This was a riot, and a little bit scary.

At the Mud Volcano, one of Yellowstone's stinkiest attractions.

Last sunset on the last day in Yellowstone.

Driving home, we stopped at Wall Drug to stretch our legs. If you ever drive by, be sure to stop!

My kids were just looking over my shoulder saying, "How come weeeeeee can't go to Yellowstone?"

It's interesting to see the bear pic with your camera vs. the telephoto lens. I kept thinking, that's awfully close to a bear!

Nice photos. I sure miss you all. It was a fabulous time but it went by way to fast.

Adorable photos of the girls, as always! And those shots of the waterfalls are amazing. Glad you had a fun trip!
