A Grand Day Out

Two hours after leaving the confines of our home this morning we arrived at the place we were supposed to be: The Illinois Railway Museum. We went in order to be part of their "Day Out With Thomas" and the girls seemed pretty excited despite the constant downpour we drove through getting there. Well...the rain was a warning of impending doom to us all in retrospect, because once we got there we found out that the whole place was flooded and that we would have to come back next weekend.

So we went looking for food. But the exit ramps were all under construction and we couldn't get to the restaurant.

So we went looking for a place to run around. But the place we went wasn't open on Sundays.

Defeated, we went home and watched Wallace and Gromit in "A Grand Day Out," ate some fruit chews, and crashed from our hard day out stuck in a car.

Here is the only action video taken of our grand day.

I love the ingenious use of the boppy pillow! I figured they were useless once the kids learned to sit up (we used them as little donut cushions to protect floppy infants). Perfectly useful into todllerhood it appears! Also - I thought we were 'in the know' on all fun kid shows...but this is not one I've heard of. I'll have to do a little research...as I'm sure if Sophie and Evie like it, my guys would too!

It looks like they had a good time despite the bad luck. Wallace and Gromit always cheer me up. I love Gromit's expressions when Wallace is doing something ill-advised.

Do the girls love cheese as much as Wallace does?
